Had the good fortune to join Capt Dean Shackleton aboard the Icewrecker today....We hit the shore at 7am with a channel of thin ice about 1.5 inches thick from Fathead yesterday.... Backed up and Dean threw the 12lb. Mushroom anchor a while to get a hole started....
Managed one keeper size salmon at the unicorn on a blue and silver speedy shiner at 25ft off a rigger... Fished from 8 till 2 without much action... Seabill came out around 11am, thanks for re-breaking the channel!
Water temp 38 to 39 and air temp started at 7 and ended up at 14... Slow action, but great company...
i see your boat gone when i went by this morning Dean and new you went for it glad to hear you guys got out and back with no problems..
christ, where i fished today i drove out on 18in. of ice and drilled my holes out side the door. nothing like a meal of hog perch fillets and watching football. lol
Hey All, Welcomed Matt aboard and ventured out the latest either one of us has been out. we fished hard but it was slow, I told Matt we needed to fish harder so we did. Still very slow, I began to suspect that my rider had Bananas! So I broke out the peanutbutter crackers(on Ritz of course)to amp up our mojo.Still very slow. I asked Matt about Bananas and he said no he would never... but had a small banana like bulge in his pocket that he swears was a chub from fishing so late in the season. Oh well there's always next time. TNTO Dean
