She made my heart skip...
She made my heart skip a few beats by jumping, running and pulling line.
Not a mark on her, no fin clips, silver as can be, and full of energy.
I missed the early morning bite as I didn't get on the water until 10:30ish or so.
Got on the water, called out, and Crazy Ivan responded. I've never known him to steer anyone wrong so I followed his advise and fished deep. Deep fishing for me meant slower action than I would have liked but I was wanting fish other than the 16 and 17's that I've been catching lately. A few small lakers, a cisco, a couple small salmon, and then my port rigger popped and a nice fish cleared the water behind the boat spraying silver in the sunlight.
Made some nice jumps then wanted nothing to do with the boat as she made two nice runs peeling line.
23-1/4", decided to harvest her as she'll do good on the grill.
Silver, no marks, no clips, fat and sassy.
Although I had been fishing between 60 and 70 down, this particular fish came from a sliding cheater with the main line set at 65'.
Blue/silver blades (thanks Jeremy) above the ball and blue/glow,crinkle white small honeybee.
She must of slammed the spoon as she was hooked very well and wasn't getting away.
Great meeting On the Job (Mike) at the ramp and chatting with Crazy Ivan and Fathead on the water. I enjoyed fishing along side Fathead for a few hours.
On at 10:30ish, last off the water at 3ish, Converse ramp. Bright sunny fun day on Lake Champlain...

Great fish Gerry and it's good to see some bigger ones showing up. Bumming rides now as I put her away this week and one last opportunity to kill a buck in NY this weekend.
Re: She made my heart skip...
I was pulling out of the lot when you pulled in...I waved, but doubt you saw me...
If I had known everyone would be out, I would have pulled the boat out of the water yesterday...
Nice fish!

Nice fish Gerry! It 's easy to catch the "cookies" up high but the big ones down deeper require more patience and time with searching for bait down deep. But, the reward is that fish today.
Great job to you and Todd!

Gerry I can't blame you for harvesting that fish. It is hard to pass up a nice one for the grill. My wife might shoot me if I released a nice dinner like that.
Plus it helps us to feel better when we have to refill our gas tanks.
