We need to plan a jail break - just like at Roxbury.

That's just terrible...I hope they find they're not a threat and don't decide to kill them.

Wow that will be a huge loss in many ways. It will take so long to make up for all those fish and to replace them. The dollar value is also huge. Yet, if the fish can possibly be infected, they should not be released because the loss can be worse.

Keep in mind this is the Bethel hatchery mission:
The mission of the hatchery is to produce and release over 5 million Atlantic salmon fry in tributaries throughout the Connecticut River watershed. The hatchery also supplies over 660,000 Lake trout yearlings for stocking Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.
It would be a shame for all the fish to go to waste...but it doesn't appear this hatchery plays a role in the Champlain fishery.

What if they let them go in the big lake instead of killing them? Does Lake Champlain have didymo in it?

No...at least it hasn't been discoverd in LC yet.

Known didymo in Vermont:

Don't need to put them in Champlain either if there is a chance they could carry didymo there are enough envasives in the system already.

From the article I read in yesterdays Caledonian Record, It stated that the fish and game has decided to donate a bunch of the salmon to the northeast native Indian tribes!!!! On the face of it I think thats a great idea!!! It also said that the Lake trout where headed to lake Ontario and I believe Erie But they where waiting to see if they where exposed that rock snot crap!!! Sleeps

Another thing to consider is adding that many extra salmonids to Champlain would probably crash the bait supply.

It looks as though officials couldn't find a suitable home for the Lake Trout, they are being destroyed. The Landlocks were harvested and put to good use.
