Another fisherman passes
When I was a young teen I had the opportunity to be taught how to be a responsible boat operator and was shown some good spots on the Lake by my brother, Roger. To this day, we talk about my first time out on the Lake and having waves going over the front of the boat. I remember him telling me to pull the plug to let water out of the boat. I told him he was crazy. Well, I learned a lesson about siphoning that day. Now, I only have the memories. I lost my brother on Wednesday night in a wood cutting accident. I'm so glad I had those times with him. He was old enough to be a mentor during those tough years. Being the 7th child of 8, I was "governed" by older siblings, but never Roger. Instead of scolding me, he'd tell me to grab my fishing rod and we'd spend the next few hours talking and fishing. Later in life, I watched as he did the same thing with his own kids. He was a super brother, Dad. Grandfather and friend. Roger, may your rod tip never be still and may you finally catch that Muskie that teased you for so many years. God Bless you, my brother.

So sorry to hear of your loss.
May Roger rest in peace.

The sudden loss of a loved one to an accident makes life of those living around us that much sweeter.
Those gone are not truly lost as long as we have memories of them.
sorry or your loss, Randy

Re: Another fisherman passes
Thanks everyone for your kind words. We will bury my brother on Thursday, so a long week awaits, but the caring of the fine folks on this site and throughout my friendship circle will make it easier. The outpouring has been very humbling to my family. We'll always remember the kindness you have shown.
