Ok, I'm going to try to jumpstart the bass fishing reports here... Fished 4 or 5 hours today out of Westport. Didn't have a lot of luck to the south of the launch, but the north shore wasn't too bad. Had decent fishing off the rocks. A mix of some fish hanging near shore and more hanging off a bit, usually around a drop off and usually around 20 feet. Caught 7 or 8 fish, mostly on the small side. One 3 pounder and broken off (quickly) by an absolute pig that follwed it up to the boat and then struck suddenly. It was a 5 or 6 pound fish... :( Also broken off by what was likely a large pike; dove straight for the weeds and it was over quickly. The best results today were on a 4" grub. Crankbaits didn't seem to get much attention. Surface temp was 58 this morning and up to 60 later in the day.
