Valcour island short report

Yesterday, while boating in family I scanned (no riggers brought) from Cumberland head to ausable river from 50 to 110 flow in search of lakers to jig with my daughter....... Nothing to see on the finder! Some bait balls under 100ft but no marks.
Where are the lakers this time of year???
