Time to upgrade. Sorry Fishing machine.

Did you see the video of the new HDS-7 with a camera they lowered and side scan on the lowrance site of the 1930's truck in 32 feet of water? awesome!

Everyone should own one at that price. Even as a second unit. Yikes! Ah heck buy two (almost 2 for the price of one)!

I'm very happy with my HB 958 but if I was looking for a new unit I would seriously consider the Elite 7 HDI. What an awesome unit for that price! Very tempting!
See you on the pond!

I wonder if this will force HB to lower it's price on the 898 HD SI. They appear to be comparable units. I've heard a lot of complaints about Lowrance customer service but also heard they were sold and that it's no longer an issue. Any input from the crowd?

Edit: The Lowrance unit it appears doesn't have side imaging.

well, my Vexilar Edge is probably 15 years old now and is still working well, however the technology is also 15 years old but I haven't seen anything to make me think these new ones are better at showing me whats down there than the one I have...However,who wouldn't like a shiny new Lowrance HDS-7 elite??? Problem is, I still haven't got my motor running right YET!! Hopefully this will be remedied in very early spring and who knows how much this is going to cost this time. If it isn't too expensive maybe a new sonar is in the future.we'll see,,,,when they said a boat is a hole in the water you pour money into ,,,,they were right.personally,I think it's worth it.

Frank - hopefully they figure it out soon. Do they have any idea what's wrong with it? Just had my winter service done, and two years with no problems so I feel your pain.

I had it at one shop 3 times this summer and they can't seem to figure it out although it cost me 1350 bucks,it still is doing the same thing it did when I brought it in the first time, which is firing on only 5 cylinders,I will bring it to someone else in the spring and already have made arangements for this to happen,I don't wish to name names at this time.I am waiting until I get it fixed for good to tell the whole story.
