Incredible! Those browns are really outstanding.

After talking to Fishy1 I thought I would find a spot on the opposite shore and fish from solid ground, but I stayed in my canoe after all. I tried all sorts of tricks to get my bait down to where I imagined the browns were, but nothing bit. It took me a while, but I did catch some brookies casting a jig towards shore. There were a lot of fallen trees and wood, so fishing the bottom didn't seem like the thing to do. All that woody structure made me dream of crappies a little, and really the technique I was using was just like crappie fishing. Most of the brookies were small and obviously hatchery fish with crooked fins, but some looked wild, including one 12" female. They seemed to be in 20-30' of water.

Sorry no pics. I really have to get my phone fixed!

Today I followed up on the crappie dreams and fished the evening bite in a VT pond that holds both big crappies and rainbow trout. Kept 3 big crappies and released a bunch more as the sun set. Then I put a light on the water and slowly drifted between 40 and 60 feet of water. Boy did I catch some rainbows! Biggest was 16". I kept some to smoke on the grill. They were mostly biting 30' down. This kind of night fishing is new to me, and very exciting.

I mean no offense, I just have never heard of two trout having identical spots. I can't find one difference between the two. Very cool anyhow. Congrats on all the beauties, fishy!

I bet you posted the wrong pic. Looks like the same shot twice, with the camera rotated 90 degrees. :)

Either way, this has got me super fired up to catch big browns!

9/28/2017 hit another high peak pond this morning roadside that holds rainbows and brookies. started fishing at 6:30 am still in darkness and both rods immediatley had runs. landed a brookie and missed the other. short while later my left rod started peeling off line and fish on i land a nice rainbow. then the wind started and it got breezy in minutes and i was facing right into it. had to put small rocks on my lines with the bail open to hold it out. trout conitnued to bite until 8:45 am then it slowed. fished until 10:30 am landing 3 rainbows and 7 small brookies. was happy with that and i was fishing on bottom with ball jig heads and crawlers. my jigs were on bottom in 25 fow.
here is a rainbow kept all 3 for a freind. Image

Nice one! I haven't done any real fishing since Sunday, but I did stop at Lewis Creek today. The water was very warm-- unpleasantly so.
