What kind of fish is this?

A friend at work, said his son caught this near larabees. Any idea what it is?

That is an invasive species called a Tench

also know as doctors fish. i caught my ist one in 2007 and sent a pic to the ny dec and they said they were let go out of a fish farm in ontario and the dec was very surprised to see it they made it down to the southern part of lake champlain that quickly. they like clay bottoms and compete with bullhead catfish and other species. they will come into a bay in the evening and surface all at one time. bass fisherman were thinking they were bass but they were not there tench fish. a good fighter and supposedly not bad eating although i havent ate any. caught 2 this year so far on crawlers. they also said there here to stay.

They where actually being raised on the Richleau River I know I didn't spell that right in Quebec and when the guy went out of business he let them go they are here to stay for sure

There are a few people that eat them but not many they are quite meaty but also quite boney

Caught them in Malletts before. Looks like a bowfin/bass hybrid gone wrong!
