Broad Lake 11/17
Got a chance to fish for a few hours today. Fished from 9:30a until 0200p and went 6 for 6, 4 lakers and 2 salmon. 3 of the lakers were clones and one was 3 1/2 lbs. Did end up with one decent salmon today a 22 inch 3 1/2 plus lber. Got one really good jump out of it. Tried all depths of water 90 to 170. Found the best numbers of fish to be in 115 to 140. The fish also seemed to be deeper then last time I was out. A lot of fish between 44 and 65 ft. All but one of the fish came with the riggers set 56 to 58, the other fish hit with the rigger set at 44. Ran 20 to 25 back with the spoon. Surface temp was 50.6 to 50.8 everywhere.
The fish seemed to hit pretty good for the first couple hours and then shut right down. Tried different depths, lures and speeds to no avail. The bigger salmon hit an MP6 copper custom taped bee, halo blue/blue/with a pink halo stripe. That spoon took several whacks my last outing as well. The other spoon was an MP6 gold custom taped orange/copper sequin. All tapes from Tamiron. Forgot to reset the date on my camera.
Here are the 2 spoons that have worked really well the last couple times out
The same spoons next to one of the alwives spit up by the fish

Darien,
Great report and detail from your area of the lake! That fish has a huge tail. Good to see you on the water. Things are starting to set-up for those deeper fish. How was the bait picture?

Cool CF...thanks for the report.
Like Ron mentioned...huge tail on that Landlocked. Kind of weird looking.

Re: Broad Lake 11/17
I see some good areas of bait yesterday, some seemed to be the tell tell vertical look of alwives but not like the previous couple of falls. I see more bait balls that would indicate smelt or other species of bait fish. The fish I landed yesterday are far from starving, there just not that football fat like we have been seeing. I see enough bait to feel comfortable enough in saying there is still plenty of food for the fish.

Lots of power to move that fish with. I can remember catching them in the tribs years ago and the tails on the fish were large looking. Perhaps the fish having been chunkier the last few years makes that not as noticable. These fish have a big tail due to the fact they travel around all the time and to make the long journey's nature programed them for, need a good strong motor for that purpose.Raz wrote:Cool CF...thanks for the report.

CI - that blue/blue halo/pink halo on copper has worked for the past 3 falls. I should give it a name - blue goo sounds catchy. The white dot is made with wtp glow tape.
The copper sequin/orange on gold has been pretty good to me as well.
