Water under sandbar bridge?
Has anyone tried going under the bridge? How much water on the south side??? Can I get a 21 ft thru?
Re: Water under sandbar bridge?
Matt
You should be able to get under until the lake drops below 96.

Re: Water under sandbar bridge?
I have never been under the bridge myself; but wouldn't that also have a lot to do with how much draft a vessel has. One boat might make it at 96 ft. while another might not make it at 97 ft if that is an area of shallow water. Am I correct?Thorny wrote:Matt

You are very correct and either way it's going to be a tight fit with the low water we have seen.

Re: Water under sandbar bridge?
I commented via one of these forums if dredging this area would be part of the new launch upgrade. It sure would be nice to be able to access that part of the lake without fear of running aground. Could come soon this year for a lot of boaters. Been told by a few that they will never dredge it (can't remember of it is from the underground power lines or a threatened clam... Anybody have real info on this subject?

Don't quote me on this but many years ago, like 20+, a group which I can't remember had everything lined up to dredge that area, Army Corp of Eng., landowner who wanted the fill and it was shot down because it was a breeding area for freshwater clams. This may have been like that big pike story and has changed thru the years. LOL

Seems like the Commish wants to be able to get out to the main lake too...hmmm maybe they will revisit the dredging issue..
From the press release today:
"The new 'John Guilmette Fishing Access Area' will serve a large group of anglers and boaters, as well as duck hunters, by providing year-round access at a key location on northern Lake Champlain," said Fish & Wildlife Commissioner Patrick Berry. "When you launch your boat, you can go north in the Inland Sea, or head south to the mouth of the Lamoille River, Malletts Bay, or the main portion of the lake."
