Save a Turkey. Eat a Salmon.

MY 11-yo daughter AKA Basscatcher joined me for a mission this morning to put salmon on the table for Thanksgiving. After a slow start, we found success. We'd barely gotten lines in when she caught a laker. A few minutes later I lost a small salmon near the boat. Our friends on the Country Angler re...

Re: Converse Dock

Yes, the dock was still there this morning. Stopped by on the way to work to check.

We'll probably be on the lake tomorrow looking for salmon, not sure exactly what time we'll launch...

Good luck tomorrow, hope to see you out there.

Re: Port Henry - 11/13

Thanks for the report ! Funny we didn't see each other out there, 2 guys fishing solo in Alumacrafts - I launched at 8:30 at Arnold Bay but motored north and you must have headed south by the time I trolled back down past Scotch Bonnet. Nice to see a brown come out of Fishville, you've got me excite...

Re: Lonesome Lake 11/13

great report - thanks for sharing! Probably see a few more boats out once deer season ends - thsi is the best time of year to be on the water. You need a partner to go with you - VT law says two lines per angler. I like to have a partner or two with me - my usual "fishing buddies" are my ...

Lonesome Lake 11/13

Not many boats on Champlain today - I actually saw more salmon (5) than other boats (3) ! Good conditions for salmon trolling with rain, north wind, and a few whitecaps. Water temp was 51 F at the surface. I didn't bother with a Fishhawk when there's no 55 F to be found, so don't know what it was fu...

Oct 30 Trolling

Both my daughters came fishing Sunday and I'm happy to report everyone caught a salmon along with a few other fish. Light winds, sunny, comfortable temperatures, biting fish, and no loss of fishing gear - doesn't work out that way very often. What a wonderful way to spend the day together ! On the w...

Re: Another nice steelhead

on the opposite end of the spectrum I picked up a big fat laker today, 40 ft down over 300 FOW... @dillyworm 40 ft down from the boat? Yes, I'm estimating 40 feet down below the water surface... I was trolling with 7 colors of lead-core so I figure it sinks 5 ft per color, makes 35 feet plus anothe...

Re: Another nice steelhead

Must have been a surprise to see a big chrome fish jumping out of the water when you'd been trolling near the bottom in 80 FOW, not what I'd expect to bite down there... on the opposite end of the spectrum I picked up a big fat laker today, 40 ft down over 300 FOW... Congrats to you both, that's a b...

Re: Salmon on a Stick

Never heard of running 13 colors… that is a lot of lead in the water!! Thanks for sharing… In the past I ran 10 colors and would catch perch and smallmouth bass in late July, August, and Septembers, so I figured more lead was needed to get down deeper to the colder water. Also went with the magnum ...

Re: Salmon on a Stick

Dilly - was that you trolling south of Essex, NY yesterday? I tried to hail the kayaker on my VHF radio but failed. My wife and I were out for a boat ride. That must have been someone else. I was out Sunday between Scotch Bonnet and Arnold Bay in the white Adirondack rowboat, it looks like a canoe ...
