Re: Cabelas
Shop at KTP’s fishing department often while the better-half shops the clothing and shoe departments. Prefer KTP’s fishing department over Cabela’s for selection of local lures, Top Guns, DB smelts, Guide Specials, Mooselooks, Speedy Shiners, Flash Kings and others. Great saltwater selection of tack...

Re: Planer boards right of way clarification....
Do you guys run flags on your planer boards? I've seen on Champ; homemade boards that appear to be using motor oil as a waterproofing agent, least to say, they were very dark and extremely hard to see. Don't remember seen any body using flags. Flags are easy to see from a perpendicular approach, no...

Re: Time to shut the door!
You really don't want them on your fishing line... I've spent a week on Lake Ontario, my fishing line was always like that: http://www.mass.gov/dcr/watersupply/watershed/images/Spiny-waterfleas-1-(Gunderson).jpg You have to remove this glue to continue to reel, and they are on the fishing line to e...

Re: What fish see!
Interesting to see the copper turn aqua. But...is this what the fish see? Or is it what we see? It is what is presented to us and fish. What we and fish sees is determined by the eye receptors and brain processing of eye receptor information, but I thought it was a catchy phrase. :D :D The copper c...

What fish see!
Went fishing solo on Squam Lake back in May and took some underwater videos to check out the underwater camera setup. When playing back the video noticed some color changes underwater. Composed a video with some commentary that shows what happens underwater to some blades. http://home.comcast.net/~g...

Re: 5/28---5/30
Thanks for the report Gus. In your second video you commented how you like that particular rod. Looked like an Ugly stick, was it? What was the rod Gus? Raz, Yes, they are Ugly Stiks 8' 3" length with a line spec. of 6 – 20, BWD 1101, like Dodger confirmed. I have been unhappy using Star Fire,...

Re: 5/14----5/16
Guys, when you refer to "blades" do you mean attractors on your downrigger cables? Thanks! Yes, some guys use vertical and horizontal together or separately or independently. I use them together, just my preference. Put the lure close in, 3 to5' in cloudy water and when the fish are aggre...

Re: GPS vs Depth Raider speed disparity problem solved!!!
This link will answer your question. My DR reads about .7 mph slow. One way to check it out is to lower the ball about 5 ft down and then check speed difference. Need to have calm day and going straight for best results.
