Re: Easter morning on the Cathy Jean

Nice job filleting the salmon! They look delicious. Do you cut out the bones that protrude out or do you just pick them out after cooking? I just returned from a trip to the midwest and I'm anxious to get back out on the water. Thanks for the report. It gives me a starting point for lure selection ...

Re: Inland Sea 4/11

Fatty!! Congrats dbrooker! My son has caught his 2 biggest pike on one of those 2" Matzuo's .... while salmon fishing of course. No action on it last night, though. I caught 1 salmon while solo on 1 color of lead with a PPE Honeybee. I then picked up my son and it was dead the rest of the nigh...

Re: Inland Sea 4/11

2-2.5” yozuris pins minnow, 2.5” challenger, 2-3” rapala broken back or not, they both work. Basically what Shawn said (Crayfish) I even have had action on the Japanese matuzo sticks they sell at Dicks. Good luck. Funny you say that, I have a gold Matzuo I refer to as my $2 Special that’s caught so...

Re: Inland Sea 4/11

After 2 years and a rough start because if engine issues on a boat stored in the Us that has not run in 2 years i finally managed a test run this pm. Headed out and started fishing around 2:00. Did the first two pass in the bay to pick up 2 12 inch browns ( brown trout stick bait and white russian)...

Re: Inland Sea 4/11

That's a beauty! Congrats! I must have gotten off the water just about the time you got there. I fished from about 2 - 5 or so. Keeler's and the corner in front of Sandbar beach. The beach / corner was a mess. I did manage a 17" silver, though, so it wasn't a bad maiden voyage for the year. Be...

Inland Sea 4/11

Took advantage of the nice evening to run up to sandbar launch. Lines in around 5:30pm, flat-lined pins Georgia Shore and Keeler for a couple hours with no luck. 42.5 surface water temp was the warmest found, but lots of debris and hard to keep lines clean. Just before dusk I went to one of my favor...

Great shots, pretty sure I see a salmon rising in that first photo of Keeler… soon!

Re: Best Mapping/Chart plotting for Lake Champlain

Thanks for the responses Andre and Reelax! Love the Navionics app, sounds like it’s still the best. There are so many different mapping products, appreciate the input.

Re: Best Mapping/Chart plotting for Lake Champlain

Thanks for the reply Gerry! On the GO are you using the base map, C-Maps or Nav+? Seems like 90% or Simrad GOs are loaded with C-Map.

Best Mapping/Chart plotting for Lake Champlain

Hi all, Having used a few different units and mapping combos over the years, curious what’s the best out there for Lake Champlain currently? We’ve had mixed results with the following: - Lowrance Elite with Navionics+ - Garmin ECHOMAP with LakeVu - Humminbird Helix with base maps Garmin seemed to be...

Re: Keelers Sunday

Thanks Matt, good to meet you too. The drone work is all Dan, I just try not to fall on my face when he's got that thing flying. I'm sure he'd be game to get you some footage of your rig next time we see you guys out there. On aside, anyone seeing any size north of sandbar (besides that 6lber)? Have...

Re: Keelers Sunday

Pretty similar experience in Keeler/sandbar/Georgia shore Wednesday evening with @danruss. Had hits on all presentations (spoons 10-12') long-lined shallow stickbaits, however not as efficient as Reelax (2 for 5). We also found them to be scattered at varying depths. Alewifes were everywhere, and ha...

Re: Too Much Bait?

Definitely feels like the alewife die-off is a challenge. Had great luck on Tuesday 10 on, 7 landed but all small 16-18". I assumed they just couldn't fit the big alewifes down their throats, and the bigger ones were probably stuffed full. Tons of big bait, but the fish I kept had nothing in him.
