NO perch yesterday
Dockside Ben, Homewrecker, and I left the perch behind and headed out across the lake toward Schyuler and Corlier Bay.
Not a lot to report but we did 1 cisco and 4 salmon. Salmon were all little cookie-cutters at 16-17 inches. They were active at 30' down over 80-110 fow. There were marks below, but no takers. The cisco came from 55 down on a Captain Midnight fly that was trailing some "secret" experimental spinners that Ben has at his store.
The salmon all hit various lure manufacturers, but all were in the Brown Trout pattern.
As usual it was fun fishing with Ben and finally getting to fish with Homewrecker. He's full of jokes and great stories...I think he's Jackie Gleason in disguise! Oops...is that the secret spinner set up on that center rod? Dean told me I wasn't allowed to look at the spoons he brought along.
I snuck in a peek anyway...risking getting thrown overboard. Lake Champlain is a great place to fish and enjoy!
Get out when you can!

Re: NO perch yesterday
Always nice to fish new water and yesterday was a great day to make the trip. No perch is a good thing!
I checked the lake level and it's up 2.5 feet in a week! 97.6. Should be a lot of water everywhere!
Nice report guys!

Matt...you should have no problem if that's what you have in mind. There was four feet in the shallows.Reelax wrote:That musta been a great time, what a crew! At least the silvers are still hitting somewhere.. Glad to hear you got under the sandba bridge OK.

Great fishing with the Homewrecker and Raz! I was very impressed at the bag of tricks the Homwrecker had. There were more lures, spinneres and rigs he made than I have ever seen anyone carry around. He is loaded for bear!
Raz had the Idea of running around looking for clear water. It's out there you just have to find it.

Raz / Ben / Dean,
How was the debris on the lake on the ride over? Any trouble spots?

Not that bad it was worse this spring. It's mostly in the river mouth areas but the main lake is fine.

Raz - where any ciscos over 13-inches? If so, you should enter them into the Master Angler program, if you got pictures of them. You'll be the first with that species! So far, out of the 33 species that are eligible, only 4 remain with no entries - American eel, American shad, lake whitefish, and cisco.
Be the guy that knocks that list down to 3 species!

When I stop to think about the one I caught yesterday...it very well may have been over 13"!
It seems Ben said "Hey, want a picture of that?"
no pic... I tossed it.
Thanks for the reminder!

In regards to debris... The quote of "not that bad it was worse this spring" leaves me a bit uneasy!! LOL Like.. a little worse than spring or close to as bad as it was this spring!!! xoxo
"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived"
