This is my personal best "fish".
I'll break my own record someday. This was in '85.
The big fish was my very first Halibut over a three year period of targeting them about twice a year. The first one was the best one! I'll never forget how tight the line was and the back breaking it took to get it off the bottom in deep salt.
I always got fish, but never repeated with a fish of this size. Although one time I had a 100 pound stainless leader get bit through like it was butter. We thought that fish was probably a monster Ling-cod.
Estimated by a commercial Halibut fisherman to be in the 110 pound range.
Not weighed, only filleted.
