I wanted to introduce myself as I've been a member on both forums for a little while now w/ zero engagement (Sorry)! My name is Jason and I live in Jerusalem, VT with my very patient wife Erin and aspiring 2 yo fishhound son Irie. While I love all aspects of fishing (including trolling the lake), my passion is fly-fishing! I started about 28 years ago w/ my Dad in CT on the Farmington and Salmon Rivers and never looked back. I rule (I mean fish
) the upper New Haven (Lincoln area) mostly and make trips to the Clyde, Huntington, Winooski, Otter, Neshobe, and Middlebury when I can. I just returned last week from another of my "home rivers" (Grand Lake Stream, ME) where my dad & I spent a week chasing landlocks. Good trip; maybe 25 for 40ish with the biggest at 25" and 5ish pounds (all on a 4 wt!) Wonderful place, for those of you that troll only, West Grand Lake yielded 166 salmon in 4 days for a good friend of ours! And they only flatine w/ flies-- no weight used! Some fish in the 8-10 lb range! Been going there for almost 20 years, absolutely worth the 9 hour drive!I'm gearing up now for Lewis; last year was easily the best steelhead year there (for me) w/ a few multiple fish days (1 day I even landed 7!) Especially when deer hunting starts, some days had the whole river to myself! If anyone has wanted to try it there, I'm happy to help having previous guiding experience. I'd love to be in touch w/ someone that spin fishes only--I think that's the way I want to get my son into fishing but am horribly embarrassed to say I have forgotten all I've learned in that regard. Maybe a knowledge swap?
A few other things about me; I love the Yankees, hate all Boston teams, hate yellow beer, love bird hunting, miss the Whalers, seen more Grateful Dead shows than I can remember, and have a significant fishing problem! I am also always available to help in any way I can. I'm not a believer in hiding info (IE-- what I'm using and where I go) so you'll get the truth from me. I only ask the same.
And yes, Crusty is my nickname. Not sure if it was bestowed on me for my love of living simple w/ nature or the women I dated in college. Either way I earned it....
