Shakedown on Surprise

Post by Surprise »

Al "Fishfarmer" and I launched Surprise today after the mothballing at the end of "my" season on January 5th.

That day was my first of 2011 fishing with the Admiral and I'm still on the high of 4 species caught consecutively on the same rod as Steelhead,Laker,Brown& Salmon on a Kathy's Ticked Pink fly named after my wife.

Anyhow a shake down is just that.... Trailer lights brake and blinker not working..OK! Ya #$*@.. then at the launch motor won't start....back to Vergennes , new plugs then back to drop in at Big Otter PURRRRRR. OK now! not happy with new GPS totally and may poll the audience on this one.. The circuit was over to Snakeden down to Barnrock over to Basin Harbor and back to Otter...but 2 lakers longline, silver/ blue Mini Guns, two 15 inch salmon, on Rainbow Speedy Shiners 30 down and a Cisco on red copper Ivan slider.

I almost forgot .... Al and I spotted our "first iceberg" Head Lettuce of the year floating at the top end of the Pallisades complete with the wire band around it .....we both noted that it seemed a bit early.....for "Bergs" ...Ha!

Out tomorrow with Newhavenbill.....R

Feels good to float again! Randy

Wow! Welcome to the season. It's been not only a great summer season of boating, but I'm sure you heard a couple of nice fish have been caught this year. Looking forward to this years menu updates .... I mean fishing report ... both! Never caught a pregnant salmon this season so no roe making for me ... yet.

Looking forward to updates.

Good that you are back Randy with time to work out the kinks before this fish really start hitting.
