Greetings from Waddington NY and the shores of the St Lawrence River. Looks like we've become the bass tournament hot spot of northern NY. This week it's the BASS Nation Eastern Divisional. Vermonter Russell Philips in 10th place after 2 days. Canadian Doug Brownridge tops on the leader board. Check it out:

The tournament wrapped with a good time had by all participants. Canadian Doug Brownridge won the event with 20+ lb stringers each day. Vermonter Russell Philips finished in 7th. These guys and the other state leaders will go to the BASS Nation championship. The great thing about this format is that each state team includes two high school kids who compete against the other highschoolers. The Vermont team was a couple guys from Colchester high.

The most unusual part of the final weigh-in was when one of the guys from Spain asked his girlfriend to join him on stage. He tells her that he needs her help to show off the lure that will be responsible for the biggest catch of his life. She pulls a wedding ring out of his tackle bag and he proposes right on the spot. What a story she has now - "he proposed on the stage of bass fishing tournament!".... LOL

If you are interested be sure to check out Don Barone's piece titled "Chasing Little Green Animals". He has great insight into the dedication of these Bass tournament anglers. We have several LCU members who display similar dedication to "Chasing Little Silver Animals"....

this is a great event for the area Paul, Waddington is a fishing community. i went out to dinner at the bowling alley with a couple of guys who participated in this event, during there pre fish. i happened to be hunting sky carp out that way. Jim Jefferys fishes alot of these tournaments and does quite well.
