Got out for the first ice fishing of 2014. The best ice that I've seen in several years. Iced a nice 29 inch laker around 7-8 lbs and my buddy iced a beauty of a northern (37 1/2 inches and 12 and 3/4 lbs). Both on shiners and tip ups. Interesting that the laker had 18 little alewives lined up in it's belly and had coughed up several when caught. The northern had an empty stomach but was a hen with eggs. The northern was iced on a 6lb mono leader and a size 8 hook! (10 inch hole).
