Smallies on the fly

Post by tiny »

Went down to Lewis Creek after work yesterday and found that fish still weren't sitting on beds but they were spooky and not very hungry. I managed 3 all on a 10wt with a big yellow and brown jointed streamer. Load of fish were stacked up at the tops of pools but weren't interested in anything we threw at them. My buddy Roel caught the first 3 fish all on a small swimbait, his biggest at 18"

My biggest made the master angler cutoff at 19.5"

And another at 18.5" at sunset

I caught my fish all on this fly which is the single most complicated thing I've ever tied but it has now caught 2 pike and 5 bass and is still going strong:

Man...I wish I could have gone.....ugh. If I wasn't planning on camping next weekend I'd be willing to give it a whack. Are you going sometime mid-week after work maybe? Nice fish, and a beautiful day to fish too.

Catching fish on the fly is special. Catching them on your own fly tops it off.

Good job and nice fly.
