Anyone make the jump to Lithium ? Some posts seem like 50ah is enough for a day of fishing

Would be looking at 36V 50ah.....

Good place to purchase?

I switched to a lithium 100 ah 12 v for my Minkota 55 Power drive on my pontoon
Use it mostly for trolling for Walley on local river. In light wind and current I can usually get two days of use . If breezy with moderate current I will recharge every day. If you go lithium invest in a lithium charger too.

As long as you don’t plan on using them in the winter months and charging them at lower temps than 30 degrees. The cheaper ones don’t have a low temp protection but if you do charge them that could damage the battery. Many of them have a built in low temp charge prevention and high amp draw protection. But there are some nice reasonable cheaper ones that are a good decent battery. Weize and LiTime are decent rated batteries if you check out the testing of them on YouTube channel. There is a lot of guys with YouTube channels about lithium batteries. It’s worth checking out. Plus it’s amazing the weight you save with a lithium. Plus It all depends how much you want to spend

I dipped my toe in the lithium pond about a year ago and plan to phase out all the lead acid batteries as a result. The motivation for the change was to reduce weight because I take my batteries out of the boat after each trip, or often carry them some distance to put in the canoe w trolling motor for different adventures.
As for cold weather operation/charging, I leave my batteries in an unheated garage until end of December when duck season is over. I charge after each trip then let them sit in the cold until the next adventure when I top them off. There have been no obvious effects from cold weather on operation or charging. The battery I purchased is included and definitely on the cheap end but it has performed great and came with a charger. The charger fan sounds like it was ready to die right out of the box, but a year later its still kickin.

Thanks for all the help..........decided to make the jump. Went with a LiTime 36v battery with their charger. $ 500 was less than 50 % of the Ionic price and LiTime seemed to have good reviews.........

When charging with the smart battery charger, do you charge it with the lithium setting or the LiFePO4 setting?
In bought the Power Queen 50 ah to run the live scoop and so far its amazing.

The smart battery chargers will select which battery type they are connected to. Hence smart charger. You can also select which type you are charging by the mode switch. I always charge on the lifepo4 10 to 20 amp. I'm also thinking of a solar charger so I won't have to keep taking it out of the boat
