Friday Fish Frenzy

Fished outta converse with AveJoe Friday with blue bird skies and 3 foot rollers out of the north till 10am when it calmed down. Water temps were around 37. Water was a perfect stained green and clear with lots of debris in lake especially as you got closer to the boquet…

We setup small sticks and a few spoons on otter boards and started fishing with 2 color lead and flatlines out at 1st light. The bite was steady right out of the gate and we had 9 salmon landed by 9am which is usually a good milestone:)

Menu consisted of homemade blue berry muffins for breakfast followed by ball park franks for lunch. Later in afternoon we stayed energized with Tacito’s and hot buttered and salted pretzels. The grill got a workout today:)

High point of the morning was when we spotted surprise coming north up the shore toward us… Someone to talk to and share the fun!

At one point we caught just a lamprey with no fish attached. Other times we pulled up salmon with multiple lamprey on em. All 6-9”…

One key point… DB smelt took almost 1/2 of the fish today…. Seems more spoons in the later part of the day kept our bite alive.

We broke the 20 fish mark around noon . A high water mark for 2024 to date. We decided to push as hard as we could to keep
Going even though we were getting beat.

By 3pm we had worked the counter up to 28 fish and only 3 of those were lakers! Any day we land 25 salmon is a blast, but with only 2 people it was mayhem most of the day. We probably lost 5+ fish just cause we couldn’t get to the rod as we were already busy:)

No monsters today but the action made us feel like it was only a matter of time all day long!!!

Fish on!

Hey Matt,

Congratulations on Retirement! I found that I'm busier now than when I worked. Stay Well and enjoy every day.

Good to see and hear you on the pond too! A day in crooked numbers of fish landed is fun.

Randy
