Inland sea Friday tour.

Post by Reelax »

Launched in the southern inland sea Friday at 7am with Jon R and Dave F to search for silver. Air temps at 12deg, water temps started at 36.6 at launch and warmed to 39 during day. No thermo cline, as temps were same all the way to 50fow. Good bait on east side of savage and again in the cow banks. We found silver in 2 different locations and battled a couple big northern pike during the day. Lots of ice buildup when on plane, but the sun helped break it up quickly once we trolled. Called it a day around 3 with flat calm conditions and only one other boat spotted. Notable was the thousands of ducks that spooked up in the sea and flew back and forth between keelers and savage all day. Never seen at many ducks on the sea!

Matt,

Your photos give new meaning to the term " frostbite season" , and I hope the " rest of the story" on that overturned boat is better than the hull.

I always enjoy your posts and wish you tight lines in the New Year.

Happy Holidays.

Very cool pics of Reelax iced up, right out of Deadliest Catch 8-)
Plus you found the fish as always, definitely have had to move around on the IS the past few months!
Merry Christmas to all!

We fished the inland sea because there would be less trees and debris in the water as there are no major feeding rivers into the Sea. The boat was in the middle by savage and we left it as we could not find any place to hook on for a tow to shore. It was up
Out of water high enough to be seen easily so we didn’t feel it was too much of a hazard. it was south of savage in the middle… looks like motor and transom were probably ripped off during the flood and the foam in seats are keeping it up…
