Post by Big Bear »

Got a slip at Marstons marina on the Saco river and went 20mi offshore a few days with perfect ocean weather. Caught lots of fish!!!

Looks like you had beautiful weather to go offshore. Nice catches.

Reds and Whiting are excellent eats, I am jealous! I have wanted to bring my boat down for some years but know if I did there would be gale force winds complete with water spouts

Yes we caught a lot of them. They were everywhere, over a dozen keeper red fish and 1 was almost 15” which is huge for them. Caught so many whiting we probably threw 50 back. If it had been in season, we even had 4 keeper cod. We only caught a few haddock. Went 18-20 miles offshore two days, then closer to shore for another day and a river cruise. Mackeral was very hard to find and the river was very silty due to all the rain so stripers were tough the week we were there.

If you go for a week likely to get 1-2 offshore days. Last year we got 1 day, year before 2 days. This year could have gone a 3rd day but we were tired :)
