No Fleas, No greasers, no problem 7/5

Post by Reelax »

Fished the southern inland sea with Jason and Esad. Ran 3 riggers with cheaters, a set of slide divers and a 5 color lead rod….. All fired throughout the day, but the riggers set to 40 down seemed to rule. We set out at 1st light and motored to the area we landed the big salmon Saturday.

Only 2 other trollers on the water we saw all day. No much traffic for a Wed..

A mix of bright day spoons were set as we had bluebird skies and clear water to deal with.

The main reason for this location is 2 species we wouldn’t have to deal with…. Fleas and lakers:) didn’t see evidence of either all day long!!!

Menu consisted mainly of some huge delmonico’s Esad brought that grilled up so nicely. Hate to say it but the ‘ol Magma is being retired after 6+ seasons of marine grilling aboard Reelax. The replacement has arrived and will fill in right where this old stained tired beast sits…

Hit salmon mostly to the south of the sea with the wind pushing warm water north it brought the cooler 55 deg water as high as 55down on the right spots. Match that with good bait and bingo… the salmon are there…

Great stories and steady wind kept us going till about 2pm when we decided to pack it up with the counter 1 salmon shy of double digits. No perch, no lakers, all salmon:)

While the size didn’t match last week’s fight Jason got a couple good salmon jumping for fun and with the steak on top we had a great day!!

Thanks guys!!

Looks like a beautiful day. 9 salmon in a July day is doing really well, great report !
I do not exaggerate when I talk about fishing - I underestimate, like I say "just one more cast honey, then I'll come home" !
Keep Calm and... Fish On !

I Reelax, my name is Salmo, I am not new to this forum but this is the first time I am writing in it. I am a planing to go fishing for Salmon once or twice this summer.I normally only fishing Salmon in the spring so I have no experience in summer fishing on lake Champlain. I am afraid of getting fleas, and I don’t know where is the Inland Sea and where to launch my boat to go there.Where do you think I should go to catch Salmon without having to deal with the fleas.Thank you for helping me Salmo.

Excellent numbers on a July day, well done! I have been putting my tackle through a rinse cycle the last 2 trips both in the central/northern end of IS and west side. Maybe 4 or 5 short salmon, the obligatory monster white perch or two and sunburn on the tops of my lily white feet😂

The inland sea is the vermont side of the lake once it is split by the islands. You can launch from the Guillmette state launch off rt 2 in milton to fish the southern sea easily.

Good
Luck!
