Son and grandson went to Mexico point last weekend for Browns. I should have joined them. In getting ready with new line they loaded 8 lb main and 6 lb floro leader. Based on my experience never catching a Brown over 12 lbs I said that was fine. Didn’t know that they would find a hog. Leader broke in the net as grandson netted it.
24 pounds
Drew a crowd at the tackle shop/cleaning station.

Re: Big Brown
congrats on the fish, but 6lb is way to light for lake o.no need to run anything lighter than 10.we run 12lb fluoro which works just fine.

That is a marvelous fish. Congrats on the catch.
I was there 2 weeks ago and biggest one we caught was about 5 lbs.

Re: Big Brown
Nice Brown, heading up to Mexico bay this weekend for the spring derby I’m hoping Lady Luck can shine on us. Try to better our 9th place finish last year in the brown category.
Tight lines and good luck to anyone else heading up to the Derby!!
