All your kind words are so encouraging and uplifting. Miss y’all and look forward to Deano’s Alligator Stew on/in the truck bed! Fish On, Bill —Popster
You've untangled yourself from the ball grabber.....good to see you on here Bill!

News from Meda:

"Good morning, Bill came home from the hospital on Thursday evening. He will be home for two weeks when he will go back into the hospital for the sternum repair on March 10. After numerous disappointments in trying to squeeze him in, the Drs. decided they would join forces and get it on the regular schedule. His cardiac surgeon actually bumped one of his patients so they could use the time already scheduled for that person. The OR is incredibly backed up and short on staff! I hope none of you need surgery because it will be months before you can get in.

He's home with oxygen and will get some physical therapy while we wait.

Meda"

So good to be home again. That was a long 5 weeks but I was in good hands and the entire staff was so helpful. All your supportive words and encouragement is so appreciated I can’t tell you. Thank you. To those still out on the water, keep those reports coming. Fun to read. And please be careful. Miss you all

Update from Meda this AM:

Bill had his second surgery yesterday to reconnect his sternum which had separated after his last surgery. He now has 5 sets of titanium plates connected by over 60 screws holding him together. No using his arms for 6-8 weeks.

He's in the ICU, pleasantly sedated for the pain. Although, he was most upset that he might miss the UVM basketball game this afternoon. They quickly hooked up his TV so he could watch. He will probably sleep thru most of it.

Probably be in ICU for a few days, then Miller and then hopefully home. He made so much progress when he was home for 2 weeks. I'm hoping we can make that happen again.. There's no place like home.

Great News From Meda Today:

We are finally on the home stretch! Bill came home from the hospital yesterday afternoon. Now it's just recovery time. He will be residing in his new recliner and watching his sports on TV. I will be the task master getting him up and moving. Such a good time.

Welcome Home Pal, Heal Well

A quick update... Saturday I had lunch with Bill and Meda at their home. I showed up several minutes early and he met me at the door on his feet which led to 2+ hours of great story telling. He was able to sit at the table and share with no apparent limitations. Oxygen was available, but he didn't need it, though Meda pushed it once. He's doing well, in great hands with Meda, and there is no place like home!
