Converse Monday / Wednesday results

Post by digitroll (ron) »

Monday: Chris and Mike joined me again for a second straight Monday on the water. It turned out to be one of the best outings in 4 years for us! 18 salmon landed and 12 LT on 40-45 bites. No big ones but nice fish up to 18". Lite Bites ruled the day with 115 feet of line out on the counter. Old school Speedy shiners in copper and orange tape. 3 fish were RV clips and the rest were no clips for my spreadsheet diary off to a great start for salmon.

Wednesday: Chris returned and Randy were my guests today. Very late start with the cold night and am with 9F at 6 am in Essex. We waited until 11:00 am to meet at the ramp where it was 22F and sunny with no wind with an empty parking lot. After a hard NW blow yesterday the fish were gone that were there on Monday. Just LT were there. Randy had us check out an old spot and we found some salmon after 3:00 pm. A quick flurry going 4/6 on salmon. We had 10 LT and 20 bites today. Randy had some excellent soup and rolls and desert was cheese cake his wife Kathy made. Very nice sunny calm conditions today. Salmon were 16-17". No clips. Same lures as Monday.

Sunday - Friday look great for next week. Water is still 41.5 F. Highs in the 30's next week. Lots of opportunities to get out a few more times to push it to 12 trips since December 29th.

Great day for a float Ron & Chris. Glad we pushed the time back too.

We were not unrewarded with the afternoon bite. Kathy was real happy with the bag and had me fix salmon for her Last nite.

Chris's Lassoed Laker .....He said he did it on purpose as anyone can hook one in the mouth

Nice pair of 17's. Perfect dinner fish.

Interesting spot for a foul hook, must have kept you guessing on the crank to the boat! Good fight or deadweight?

Nice report Ron. Happy to see cold weather is not stopping the Frost Bite fleet.
Hope the nice weather stays and you can fish all winter.

That seems to happen to me a lot. My theory is that they try to body slam my dodger and then get snagged by the hook. It's never happened with a salmon.
