Port Henry - 12/18

Post by ChessieMan »

Fishville was the home of "Unlimited Lakers" yesterday.

Scott and I got to PH launch about 8AM and were lines down at 8:35 - lake was flat calm and stayed that way all day. started on the NY side of Fishville and washed lures for 45 minutes - huh, what's going on? Notice the boat that launched right after us was doing loops a little east and there were some birds so we eased east into 110' and started marking and then started getting bit,

And we got bit till we left at 1:30 - lakers, lakers, lakers - and 3 salmon - I can't recall such an aggressive laker bite - again you could watch the fish come up from 30 down and 3,2,1 - Whack! The dipsys far outperformed the DR's until I pulled the DR's up to 10' then they started popping too!

For lakers - these fish were incredibly feisty - we had 3 lures snapped off on the hit and I was running 12# leader off the dipsy - and the fish were pretty (for lakers)

majority between 22-28" - we stopped counting after 300 and we had a minimum of 15 hit & runs. Hot lues were Sunrise speedi and WonderBread Mooselook - speed was pretty constant @ 2.5

Food was first rate too! Started with a venison summer sausage and dilly beans followed by a toasty warm bean & bacon soup.

Between work weather and Christmas - things aren't looking good for another trip and there is some ice on the hill ponds - Soooooo?????

Happy Holidays to all - be safe - Ed

Glad you had a nice day on a calm pond and the lakers joined the party.
It's an exciting day before the Christmas holidays.

I believed the 300. And good to hear about the radio. When all the guys are out there, it's a big chunk of the fun.
