November 15 16 and 17

Post by freshguy »

Launched Tuesday about 10:00. Set up by Garden heading to Thompson's. Spread consisted of 2 riggers with cheaters and 2 slide divers. Didn't see much till we rounded the point. Just before the humps, in the deep water, the rods started firing. Picked up 2 salmon and 2 lakers, then headed to the mansion . Trolled by Kingsland to Diamond then across to NY, with nothing to show. Headed north to Split Rock where rods started firing again, going into Wallons. Ended the day with 9 salmon and 9 Lakers. Biggest salmon 20", biggest laker about 6 lbs. Just about everything came in 25'-40' over 100'+. Best lures were CI SMG, Fruity Pebbles, Purple Alewife, Blue Moon a reddish MP6 with yellow head and a Top Gun, teal with a flouro yellow stripe
Wednesday we didn't get out til 1:00 because of snow. We were lucky that the Dock Doctors were pulling docks out and cleared the ramp! Because of time, we headed right to Split Rock, Wallons where we did pretty well prior. The bite wasn't as good, but we still put 3 lakers and 2 salmon in the boat using the same program.
Thursday saw crazy changing conditions. One moment it was sunny and bright and calm, and the next it was snowing and blowing! Set up by Garden heading to Thompson's. Did get a couple of fish north side of point and missed a couple too. Again the deep water by the humps were productive. The big surprise was a fat 5 lb smallmouth! From there we went straight across to NY. On the way we picked up the best Lakers of the trip, 3 in the 7 lb range. Over to Split Rock and Wallons where we ended the day a bit early because of wind. Finished with 7 Lakers, 6 salmon and the big smallie.mostly all salmon were around 17", a very encouraging sign for '23. Will be back in June right after the derby.

Nice report Bob. Glad you had multiple tight lines with lakers and salmons.
