I don't know what's happening but the salmon fishing in Champlain isn't close to as good as it used to be. As much as i love fishing and being on the lake it's hard for me to justify filling my truck and the boat with gas to drive to Champlain and fish for four hours to catch 3 lakers and an 18" salmon. We used to do that every 15-20 minutes.
I get way more bang for my buck in saltwater now.

It's early yet. Let's see what happens in the next 30 days! It wasn't a great year for me, but I'm still hopeful that there fish in the system!

The big push of fish came in to the Salmon river almost a month late which seems to be a trend the last few years in Lake Ontario. Our hatchery brook is the outflow from the hatchery unaffected by rainfall due to it's consistent flow. Let's hope a run of fish show up soon!

There are many fish waiting in the cove area. Last year (late Oct) they came all at once. Too early to tell yet

Nice to see a huge increase since 2015 at the Winooski Lift this season! Also all the 19-23" fish now being seen again. Well written summary too!

The mature fish are held in tanks outside the hatchery. When ready they are stripped of eggs and fertilized and will create the next generation of feral salmon to be stocked. They are then returned to the lake
