Small salmon outer bay

Post by Big Bear »

Caught a few small 8-10” salmon in outer bay at 67’ in 90-100 FOW. Saw lots of marks, but that was it. Well actually I did catch a big smelt too at same depth…

Going to head out again tomorrow am, thoughts for mid-Northern part of the lake that’s not the inland sea? Was going to try around stave and maybe down off the Winooski in deeper water.

Fished North of the narrows up to the ferry from 7am-11am and there were TONS of marks. Fish were generally 65-130’ and in 150-180 FOW. And… they were not hungry. Caught 2 small wild lakers at 65’ and 130’. Lost the only big fish at 75’. And lost a few more small ones at various depths. Surface temps 70.5-71.5 degrees. Lots of bait and more fish than this quick sonar snap I took when I remembered. We were fishing 6 rods.

Not bad at all. We ran 4 rods with 25# mono and 2 rods with 30# mono. A 30# and 25# had dipsys and the other 4 we ran rudders.

Thanks for the report
I've been having same sort.of luck in outer mallets off Colchester point and the reef etc.
Been marking tons of bait and fish at same depth range. Even a few instances of bird action.
Heading out in a few to try and scare one up.

Thanks again for the 411.
