Inland sea run
Hit the inland sea with Capt Thorny and Average Joe to try to get away from the fleas and slimmers in the broad lake. It was nice to run 14lb mono and not see a flea and run some deep water sets without having to retrieve laker logs every few min…
The only issue is the laker logs are replaced with white perch, yellow perch and small mouth bass. If you collected all these in the live well during the day you could have a massive fry for supper! The yellows and whites were approaching a foot long in some cases…
Never found 54deg on fishhawk, but kept lines around 45-75 all day. Fished 4 riggers and 2 slide divers which makes for a nice tight maneuverable deep set.
Salmon were active between the suspended warm water predators. No salmon pics trying to keep ‘em healthy with such warm water temps…The best news was the massive bait between bottom all the way up to
45 feet at 1st light and up to 60ft till 10am!!! The bait in the sea looked better than had recently fishville!!!!
Menu today consisted of baked breakfast pockets with meat and cheese. Followed by marinated turkey tips…
Closed out with a marinated pork tenderloin that melted in your mouth it was sooo juicy… we struggled with working 3 courses today between the stories, action, and laughs but somehow we got it done;)
Great crew, great conditions, and a good bite kept us going till a mid day drop off. Lake was so promising Joe and I went back out and netted another few salmon after noon before calling it a day…
Great to see other forum members Mike in the lake and also chat with the country angler crew in a bass scouting trip up north for them…
Fish on!!

Re: Inland sea run
That’s great to hear this late in the year! The inland sea has definitely been the most productive spot on the lake this year for numbers and size! Sounded like a fun outing
Re: Inland sea run
Why no fleas in the Seas ?
Re: Inland sea run
Man you guys washed a lot of lures that day.

Drachma - You've apparently never fished Reelax! That is the "Option Board", doesn't mean they were all fished. But at least they're clean and have good hooks....

Re: Inland sea run
Kinda ironic. but Mike fished Reelax before the option board was invented. And the funny thing is that pic is the Cathy Jean option board brought for good luck by Rob:)
Fish on!!!

Looks like a fun, relaxing day!
Re: Inland sea run
Tunamas,
I accept the testimony of Reelax that the option board wasn't on board when I fished with Matt.
I rest my case Counselor.

Drachma, All in fun and wishing you the best! I can accept that the Option Board is a more recent development. No objection to the testimony!

Re: Inland sea run
Thanks for sharing. Last time I was on the IS, about 2 weeks ago, the flees were present. Glad to read they are fewer to not present.
Re: Inland sea run
Tunamus,
All in fun for sure. I was pulling your drain plug!

Re: Inland sea run
Its kind of funny when you can load up your boat, and all of your gear, drive over an hour away to fish, and you've got friends out there on the radio.
The kids in the team must think I know everybody on the lake, because no matter where we go I end up talking to somebody on the VHF. Last night was Little Bear, somewhere near Thompson's point.
Got to say I avoid social media like the plague, but, this forum is not like other platforms. Such a great bunch of people.
