Sandbar done for the season

Tried to cross the bar from IS to outer Malletts bay today. No go as the water depth is knee deep at best . 21 ft Grady wanted nothing to do with it . Maybe with no fuel and everyone walking we would have made it but if it got windy all bets were off . We need someone with a backhoe to do some work in the middle of the night . Or a hundred of us with shovels . Hah!

Watching a documentary last night about lake levels on the great lakes and they say there is a higher evaporation rate now with the water warmer than usual and no ice over in the winter. Water drops quicker. Likely what is happening on Champlain. Water drops so fast from late April. I remember surface temps hitting almost 80F last few years in early August.
