We launched in the south lake Saturday at 1st light. DA is finally off his summer schedule and Dreamcactcher jumped on to round out the crew...

We motored further south from the launch and started the bait search... the 1st couple places we checked didn’t look active, but the 3rd spot had bait up to 40 over 120 and there were predators chasing the bait in the screen. We setup 4 riggers all with fixed cheaters and 2 slide divers, one with a dodger and fly, just cause it September;)

It wasn’t long and we started pulling in white perch. They are getting bigger as the average size seemed over 9”. Today we found 55 deg down 80fow... BUT in some areas we found colder pockets of 100-200 yards of water where the temp dropped by degrees in that spot. This could be from currents off bottom or cold springs on the floor of the lake. All we knew was when we crossed in of these cold spots, Rods at 70ft fired...

Dave’s 1st fish of his fall season hit and took a little line. As Dave tuned him, he leaped for us to check him out and we knew he was mature and he was silver!!! What a morning. Nothing like. Pig salmon 1st thing to get the crew going.

The best bite today was 65-80 down over 110-135 fow. There was no weeds, and the fleas didn’t show up until after 9am.

Menu today started with bbqed boneless pork ribs followed by marinated sirloin tips with a little Spicy Montreal steak seasoning. Today we had a little grease fire due to build up, but it ran its course and we didn’t ruin any meat.

The best spoons today were an Effie’s dream brass back, and a brass back crazy Ivan spoon with yellow stripes...
No lamprey seen today, but the white perch and cormorants are still big pains...
The Dodger and fly was dormant today as was the 2 slide divers in general. They didn’t seems to just wanna take the day off..

It was great to land more salmon than lakers by a 2x margin... they are there and will still play you just gotta find em and figure what they want...and keep away from the laker locations.

Really though, your consistency is remarkable and I appreciate the fact that you share the details with the rest of us. Every story you post, has a different element to it as far as technique of the day. I have benefited from your posts for sure. So, Thanks for that!!

BTW, is that a New Fish Finder? I thought I had seen a Lowrance in previous pics. I would be interested in your opinion/comparison between Simrad and others(I have a Lowrance Hook7). Clearly the Simrad is superior, I'm just wondering in which ways as I will be upgrading before Frostbite Season begins.

Hey Matt, tried to get you on 68 but I didn’t get out until after lunchtime. Glad to see you got into some nice silver. Rule for the day yesterday and today was shakers on cheaters out of temperature. Screens looked great but couldn’t hook up with anything hefty, yet.

So happy to see the healthy silvers being caught. Good food shared with friends on the water makes for a GREAT day. Add catching salmon is fantastic.
Hopefully we will get on LC in 2022.

Nice job Matt we hunted out of Willsboro bay Sunday and put the smack down on some pig silvers. 4 riggers out no cheaters couldn’t keep gear in the water running CI phantom and blue moon temp 52-55 at 56 ft over 130-150 foe ended the day with 6 silver 5-7 lbs

Matt,love the reports.could you let me know what Simrad unit and Transducer you are running? Great picture.

The new sonar is a Simrad evo-9 with a tm150 transducer. I also still run a lowrance elite 7 on the starboard helm also. To have both units makes it easy to see what is down there...

The Simrad will interface with autopilot, radar, and the boat systems, so it is a good base unit to run everything... it also has a gps depth map charts but I still use navionics on an iPad.

I have both the Lowrance and Simrad installed. They make it easier to see a screen with multiple folks aboard from different places in the boat. The Simrad eco-9 has down scan, and is a generation newer than the lowrance. I think the top of the line for the main-brands is about equal Technology, it end up being what brand you prefer. I was always a lowrance guy but am Now sold on Simrad with the amount of integration and ease of use. I can run the ego from any iPad, or smart phone with Bluetooth connect and touch screen. It is really useful

Thanks for the info Matt.I have the Simrad Go 5" great little unit however noticed crack in transducer,epoxied it but picture not
the same thinking of replacing unit with the 9" Simrad
