Shore fishing a trout pond

4/14/2021 my ist time fishing a trout pond in one year and a,half and what a morning I had. Set up 2 worm rods on bottom and the other with a bobber. I have only 2 spots to fish in this pond now so I chose the one farthur from the road but only 2 to 3 fow I couldn't reach the deeper water. I started fishing at 8:20 am. As I was sitting down I saw a big trout bust water out in the deeper water. 5 minutes later my left rod starts peeling line off like no tommorow got to it closed the bail and fish on a good one. Expecting a big brookie it was a brown and what a fight. Finally got it in slid it up the little bank and took pics and let him swim away. Then 10 minutes later the right line starts peeling line and I go over close the bail and fish on busting water wanting it's freedom but it didn't happen I was struggling to get it up the little bank afraid it was going to break me off so I slid down on my butt and went to grab it but missed and my finger went in it's mouth and the blood started. I noticed my hook was down in it's gills and it was bleeding so I grabbed it around the head and tossed it up on the bank. Going to have to keep it for dinner anyhow. Another brown wow it brought back memories of the 2 big ones I got a few years earlier on the other end in deeper water. I was in shock . Landed 4 brookies before I left to but once the sun hit the shallow water I was fishing no bites. Ist day on a trout pond what a start since I can only fish certain ponds with good access.

Nice fish. This reminds me of a trout lake I like Silver Lake in Goshen.

4/17/2021 headed up to the high peaks this morning and when I got there it was Winter wonderland. 42 degrees And snow on the ground. Fished at my easy access spot but started drizzling rain and was afraid it would freeze and wouldn't make it up the hill to get out so I went down on the main road and fished out of my car. 15 minutes there and I have a run and noone home. I have set out 2 worm rods with crawlers. Then another run and fish on i land a brookie. About a half hour later I have a run peeling off line at a super fast pace close the bail fish on and it's busting water only to shake loose. Then the rain stopped and I got 3 more runs catching 3 brookies and headed home for dinner. Here are some pics of today's winter wonderland.

Very nice Matt. I give you credit for getting out there no matter the weather. Part of the reason you get results, I"m sure.

I admire your wisdom of the fishery that surrounds us. You have a very unique, yet undeniably effective approach. I am always looking to see what you post next! Also, the colors on those trout were spectacular! Great pics of the "Winter Wonderland" as well.
As always, very appreciative of your Posts in this Forum.
If you were ever interested, there's a seat on my boat available on most outings. I would be happy to have you come aboard.
Awesome Trout. Awesome Post. Thanks for sharing them with us!

Best,
Ej (TruViking)

Thanks for the kind words . For now I'm not able to climb in and out of any boats because of my health issue. I could get on a pontoon boat or a boat with a flat platform up front and if the docks are in.havent been able to get in boats for over a year.

4/19/2021 headed up in the high peaks again solo for some shore fishing for trout. Fished roadside because of the threat of rain and it did rain. Set out 3 worm rods with sinkers and crawlers. Started fishing at 8:10 am and not a run until around ,8:45 am and I land a brookie. Then I land 2 more in the next 15 minutes. Then another slow period but I do land one. I have my granddaughters alaynas rod in the middle and not one run on it. Then somewhere around 10:30 am it has a run and super fast off the reel. Got to it closed the bail and snap it breaks me off. Ugh. It's no secret I'm targeting a 10 lb plus brown in that pond and I think this one was close if not bigger. This is the ist time ever been broke off by a trout in a pond . It was only 8 lb test and the drag was set but still can't believe it broke me off on a run. Around 11:30 am or so the rain came down so I decided to head home. Ended up 8 for 11 and kept my limit of brookies.

4/20/2021 headed up to the high peaks again and to meet up with a friend for some shore fishing. Got there around 8 am and it was 35 degrees very windy and raining. So we decided to try and get out if the wind some and it worked but only 2 runs at 9:45 am. So we decided to go down where it's windy and brave it. It was horrible to say the least and raining . We fished out of our vehicles and I had a run right off but noone home. 15 minutes later wayne says I had enough this is horrible . Just as he said that I had runs on both rods. I land a nice brookie and a bullhead. I was hoping to get wayne our limit of trout for dinner but it didn't happen on this day
