Tough Conditions - Maybe This Weekend

Just here to pour my heart out about what crap ice we've had this year. I mean, the one year when an early ice season would have been sweet we get one of the latest starts ever instead.
Sucks...my usual home base around Malletts has zero ice. Not bad ice or thin ice... straight up 100% open water.
Thinking about heading up to the islands this weekend but I know everyone and their brother will have the same idea and it will be a zoo.
Sad to think this is probably the future of ice season on Champlain. I don't want to get too political but when I look at all the issues facing our lake...warmer temps, crazy weather (wind, drought), new invasives like the fleas, salmon seem to be in trouble (as guys are talking about on the the other thread)...it gets me down
Sorry, just feeling low... here's hoping for a cold snap soon. Might post an ice report soon.
