NY Boat Launches Closed??

Anyone try launching out of a NYS boat launch? Hear the DEC 'suspended' access to the launches... does that mean they are blocking the entrances or....??

Launches are barricaded on Lake Ontario. Not sure about the Champlain launches, though.

As of this morning no barricade at Westport launch.

I called the dec yesterday. All boat launches are closed. They do not know they will open.

I saw on another site that they weren’t enforcing closures, at least on lake George. If anyone is out and sees barricades or signage please post.

As of yesterday, N.Y. announced that golf courses & private marinas can reopen as long as social distancing is practiced. No mention of public boat launches. So, I can pay to launch my boat at a private marina but can’t do same at public launch. What’s up with that?

Not sure but the Recreation guidelines in the order state that "Parks and other public spaces, except playgrounds and other areas of congregation where social distancing cannot be abided" While boat launches are not specifically addressed, it seems that they fit the guideline as an "other public space." This is just my opinion, but it seems that social distancing can easily be done while launching boats.

Has anyone heard if the New York Boat Launches on Champlain are still closed? I was under the impression they were to re-open.

they are allowed to open,but not all have opened.ive been reading reports all over the state of some have re-opened and some are still closed.so I would recommend getting confirmation of the ramp you are looking to use is definetly open before you drive there.

The DEC Launches never officially closed. I fished from 4-16 thru 4-18 out of port henry and TI. On Thursday and Friday I was the only boat out there or at the launch.

Also, Mossy Point launch on George was open. The gate never shut while I was there.
