Here's a couple more to look at... took this bird first Friday of the season at 10 yards. Called him and 2 others within 80 yards the day prior only to have them taken away by a group of "loose hens" 22.3 lb 10" beard 1 1/8 spur. Second bird (with my crowbar in pic) was taken yesterday at 5:50am, was an ultimate scenerio. Had called him and several other toms in, with hens, the weekend before for a buddy... he missed at 20'!!! Oh well. Went on that day to bring in 4 more mature birds only to watch another miss, spooked one, had a guy sneek in to our setup after a 2 hrs battling the big boy away from hens, across a paved road, across a dirt road, across a brook!!! His timing was one in a million... bird had just come to within shooting range and was 5 yards from our hen decoy. Unfortunately my friend had no shot and watched the bird run. He was very discouraged and was ready to give up. Stopped and called a few times on the way out, and we had a response on our second stop, came excactly from our first stop! Heard the bird scuffing around but never saw him thru the thick hemlocks. So I knew where they had been a few days prior and made the set up. One feeding hen decoy in the ferns, a perfect stump behind a log, a couple sunrise tree calls then flapping wings! Had a hen so pissed she was bumping "my hen" tomboy walked in then ran by me all hot n horny and I flattened him at 4 yards! Really feels good when things go the way "you" want them. 21.8 lb 10.5in beard 1" spurs. Called in a few for others as well
