Michigan Inland Lake destination (Rainbows and Walleyes)

Post by digitroll (ron) »

2017 Visit Summary:

Nice to have a break from the slow 2017 season for Champlain salmon. Off to Michigan to fish my favorite inland lake 10 minutes from the in-laws abode. Our 5 day visit to my wife's family to visit the grandparents and siblings with the kids. Getting out three morning shifts of 4 hours each resulted in 8 Rainbows and 2 Walleyes and a total of 16 bites and some lost big toads for our 12 hour effort. Chet my driver and good buddy drove us over the fish while I set 6 rods (2 Lite Bites / 2 Riggers / 2 leads 8 and 10 color on OR-12 Offshore boards). Borrowing a truck from Mark and the 20 ft Starcraft from Rich both brother in laws. Brought my backup Fish hawk X-4 along to dial in the Thermocline at 50 feet. Taped the Fish hawk transducer to an old Transducer and brought a jump pack to power the display. 16 bites for 12 hours of fishing and some very colorful hard fighting leaping rainbows and some bonus walleyes completed the trip. The fish hit all 3 delivery systems. Took my son out for a hour and a half one evening and he caught his first Walleye. Can't wait to go back next year.
