A new weather buoy has been deployed in the Inland Sea by Tom Manley and his Middlebury College team on the DAVID FOLGER yesterday. The information is updated each 15 min and will be another valuable resource for all boaters & anglers in the Inland Sea
The coordinates are
44.785 N (44°47'6" N)
73.258 W (73°15'29" W)
Location is approx 2.2SM NE of the Grand Isle Draw Bridge
Interesting data already being reported. The current speed and direction is cool, interesting to look at and see how variable it is, right now there is a spot that shows a 1kt current down 16ft, and 30 minutes prior that current was only .14kt.
Hi Dick, it looks like the water temp is recorded at 1meter (3.3ft). It would definitely be nice if it gave the temp at more depths like the SUNY bouy off Plattsburgh.
If you use the GREAT LAKES BUOYS link, Popsters first link, http://greatlakesbuoys.org/station_page ... tion=45166 you'll notice instructions on the right side of the page on how to text to get the latest observations. I tried it and received immediate results.
Cool geeky stuff.
