Still on the big smallies

Post by Champlainbaits »

Fished for an hour and a half and got 3. One small smallie, one REALLY fat largemouth and another big smallie. I've gotten 5 in the 20" range in the last week. Never gotten one over 22 so here's to hoping this is the year for that.

Anyway got this one on a chugger over 15' of water/weeds in malletts bay. Fish have been hitting waaaay out on the farthest cast I can possibly make.

For some people it's "one more drink" or "one more bet" for me the lie is "just one more cast" :)

Great job!

I agree the fish are running deeper. The pike seem to have spread out in deeper water also.

Glad your still rocking them. Thanks for the report. I plan to fish it Friday.

Very nice smallmouth. I agree as well that the fish are moving out deeper due to the water levels being down.

Water temps are also contributing to the deeper fish. Before the little cold front the temps were in the low 80's in the Northern end of the lake. The deeper fish doesn't surprise me with SM. but it seems LM have taken to deeper water as well.
