Headed out of mallets this morning at 6am with Frank (Kingfisher). We set up between Providence and Stave for salmon, and trolled around providence marking minimal bait. We were running 2 riggers, set to 20 and 16. Also running 3-4 colors of lead with a 000 dodger and a slide diver back 65 down 45. The salmon bite was slow, so we turned south toward the Winooski. We got into 6 or so lakers, some bigger than others, biggest just under 10 lb. After trolling back to the opening thru the fill with no more takers we headed into the outer bay. No action all the way down the west shore to robinsons... Then nothing across and in front of the winooski... Frank turns south toward the inner bay... About half way to the narrows over 45fow.
Pop! The port rigger fires.... Looks like a good fish... I jump on it and after a couple of short runs Frank slips the net under a nice chunky browntrout.
He was 19 ft down, tight to orange and gold fathead blades...
hit a green monkey puke crazy Ivan...
After a little livening in the well and a quick pic we measured and weighted him.. He was 21" 4.5 lb.. Released to grow.
Thanks for the good time Frank... Back out tomorrow:)
Fish on!
