Re: Trick to get rid of backlashes
Good stuff Andre.
I don't use a bait-caster, but have been known to backlash my lead-core from time to time.
I'll have to keep that method in mind.

That trick works great but you can't pull it too tight before you start. The trick is to put your thumb over where the loop you are stuck on is so if its stuck against the edge of the spool you need to push your thumb into the corner. It doesn't work every time but it will get out 98% of them if you keep trying. Ramel

Re: Trick to get rid of backlashes
Ok here's my tip...and this is the only think I claim to be an expert on - Backlash This works almost 100% of the time and takes about 5 seconds in most cases.
1) push the button to get your spool in "in free spool mode"
2) use your thumb to spin the spool back 2 times (not 2 complete revolutions of the spool...just as far as it will go with your thumb only)
3) pull the line out the font GENTLY and SLOWLY
4) if you feel any resistance STOP and use your thumb to spin the spool backwards two more times.
5) if it's still stuck pull Gently until you see the loop it's caught on...grab the loop and pull gently
6) back the spool up 2 times with your thumb
You should be good to go. It sounds a lot harder than it is but if you try it I guarantee you'll be amazed. I've shown this trick to guys in the boat who have been fishing bait casters for years and they say things like like "F' do you have any idea how much time and line I've wasted over the years!"
Maybe I'll create a video that shows how this works.
One other thought...I've gotten some pretty good fish while fishing the backlash pattern...sometimes it's not bad to just let your bait sit for a little bit

For some people it's "one more drink" or "one more bet" for me the lie is "just one more cast"

Re: Trick to get rid of backlashes
I finally created a video that shows the technique I use (too often) to clear a backlash. Hope it helps
