Homewrecker flirts with a new personal best.

Post by raz »

Deano asked me out...
to fish with him aboard the home-wrecker Saturday, 2-18-2012.

Great day on the water...lots of the frostbite fleet was there...fishing, chatting, enjoying the lake, wishing the fish were excited to see us but that wasn't the case.

Dean flirted with a new personal best Landlocked, but fell shy with this nice 23-1/2", 5 pound (frozen scale) beauty.
Nice fish Dean!

We enjoyed some pretty decent chow...
Warmed Blueberry Scones with whipped butter in the morning,
then, piping hot Angus burgers on Sweet Kaiser rolls and potato salad for lunch.

Like others on the water we found the fishing tough. We ended the day at 6 for eight, landing 3 lakers and 3 Landlocks.
Thanks for the trip out Dean...we'll do it again!!!

Some of these worked...some didn't. We spent the day changing lots of lures. :ugeek:

Great job! That girl didn't have one of my flies in its mouth did it? We lost one on a broken leader and we joked to ourselves that some bodies going to catch a big one with that last fly still in it.

Great weather day.

Nice job. Nice 5-er.

I'd like to guess which lures "worked" but really what I think is probably wrong anyway...

Great pics and thanks for them!

Nice to see you and Dean out there yesterday. Things were slow for us too, I was aboard Franks boat the the kingfisher. We got one quick salmon and then worked a hard 4 hrs forth next release.... Washed lots of lures. Managed a nice Laker before 1pm. Off water around4. Good to see Homewrecker, instigator, Pete, seabill and fathead, and icedog out yesterday among others... Felt like April!

Nice report Gerry! Looks like I missed a good day to be on the water. I see all the lures you tried, but you said it was slow going. It could be that you needed better tunes in the boat while you were trolling. We usually do well with a mixed bag of rock and reggae! Country seems to attract lakers. As you found out, Dean is a good boat host!

Guys,
Thanks for the pics! Nice day on the water! Good fish, good food and definitely good company! Nice size salmon for this time of year.
You really worked the colors ... some days are just tough!
