A Great Trip to Fishville Vermont

Post by Surprise »

Well after the Thanksgiving holiday it was time for Surprise to get serious about fishing. A couple days scouting with pals led to payoff day today. The whole time before today has been lots of searching ......well the birds don't lie ;) loons when we had Alewives and the Gulls my little friends for years when we had smelt. Brian Gallagher just moved back in the area from Indiana and Arizona and he and I were of the first Frostbiters back in 1979 ....open boat 18 hp tiller steer and lots of liquid courage.....

It is Great to get back out with Brian and today was for sure one to remember...our fishing window was to be 10 -3. I headed south from our private launch in Ferrisburgh where John Fuller and I had located some bait and caught some lakers the other day. Well on the ride down we saw a Big Bunch of gulls diving into the middle of the lake..... 8-) Time to set up here. Well it was a half hour before Brian was able to get the second rod in the water. Much of the day was spent hand lining in fish after fish pretty much even Salmon and lakers...Any lure would do and long line or mini disc, riggers at any depth did not matter either.

My highlight came with a 25 inch 6 lb slab of silver that gave a epic battle. Took it on a hammered copper minigun
with purple stripe and black dots.. Available at Middlebury Beef on rt7 south.

Fishville is on the Vermont side, just line up where the Adams farm used to be and where Williams had a camp with the pine tree on the point and you are on it

At 3 PM our go time they still were biting anything that hit the water. :D
40 fish actually boated and many lost or just shook off to reset the rod. Brian got real good at hand lining e'm in but whined a lot about not bringing his rain gear and me keeping him on the back

Well, we drank no tea and had no lunch either but we both got a great day to get back together ....

What a day Randy! The sonar screen says it all! There has been a lot of searching in November for a screen like that by the fleet. Looks like you found the mother lode! What a difference a day later makes and a location change. Great effort with a "silver" pig salmon and report! :) Wonderful start on the first day of December!
