This is part of my land based direction. Called in a couple cats during our short season here in VT, the anomaly here in this picture is all the otters. Where did they come from, the blonde beaver?

So that is what a state record otter harvest looks like? Can’t imagine what that otter population explosion would have done without some population control… Theresa will always cherish the tanned otter hide you gave her last week when you came up to stay and fish… I have never felt such soft plush fur, didn’t otters were so big!

My favorite pic was one of the cat with your winter calling gear on. Amazing how big an adult bobcat can get…. no wonder folks mistake them for a mountain lion in low light…. Thanks for sharing your special skills. Those pics are a couple reasons why we call ya the Wolverine!!!

Yeah Matty that was a beast, he was rite at 50#s. The blonde beaver is only the second 1 I've personally seen in my 40+yrs on a trap line. There's 27 otters there putting the old single season harvest record number of 19 down by a good bit. The idea of my season this winter was "how not to catch beavers!" Still ended up with over 40 beavers plus 30 some odd muskrat. Also did over 60 beavers damage trapping. All this minus the damage beavers I did from Valintines day till the last week of March! 6 weeks, the season is 5 months.... image the numbers if I could've trapped the whole season!

Hell of a haul there, Andy! Congrats! I wish I still had my traps. I sold them all when I got out of college, because "the writing was on the wall that trapping was going to be banned". Here we are 39yrs later and it is still alive and well!

Thought some of you guys may recognize a few of these pictures. Have a friend who's a rep for the Vermont Trappers Association who put me intouch with another fellow trapper who also happened to be the editor of the American Trapper magazine, which is the official magazine of The National Trappers Association. Said they'd love to see a few pictures and send a few words and here it is..

That is cool there is alot of work there. The last time I put out traps for fun was 2 years ago ( I do nusence animal removal also) we had 11 traps out for fisher and bobcat and ended our 15 day season with 12 fisher and 1 bobcat. When I say we I help an older gentleman that has trapped longer than I have been alive he has taught me alot. We had the pelts tanned and they came back this week. I am working out of town and haven't seen them yet but was told they came out awesome. The Vt Trappers Rendezvous is this weekend in Barton for anyone who wants supplies or just wants to check it out.

Great to hear from another fellow Trapper Jabber. I was lucky to grow up with a great trapper, it's my turn now to pass on that knowledge to the youth.

They are trying to take it away one bad rule after another. I was self taught when I was school aged and did ok but an older trapper was having problems getting around and I was more than happy to help. I have learned more in a few years than my whole childhood. There are some walking trails in Stowe near the leader of POW's house that were having beaver problems and they wanted me to help remove them. I thought it was a perfect opertunity for them to learn about cute little beavers. They ended up spending a ton of money on beaver baffles and still got to replace 2 roads this summer. I still am shure she hasn't learned anything though.
