Planter box for measuring salmon up to 26"

Post by digitroll (ron) »

I have been using a planter box back on my transom for about 3 seasons now. The tape is the same as TJ on Wicked Tuna uses made by Cudabrand.com.

Mine is the shorter version that goes to 50" (I cut it down to fit in my box). The box itself fits perfectly in the back on my transom.

Mine was getting pretty beat up the last 3 seasons of use and I replaced it this past week. This time I went to Vt Plastics in Williston and they had a few scrap pieces of acrylic plastic and put the tape between them to protect it and caulked the 4 edges with clear caulking to keep out any moisture.

Pretty neat idea for a clean measure box.

It's worked really well for us having a place for a quick measure before releasing. Here is a photo of where I place it on the transom.
