Well after my truck was busted into this past week here is a feel good story!
We were fishing out on the Bar a few weeks ago and we snagged some gear out trolling (300 ft weighted steel and 500 ft mono backing with a Ninja inline board attached) The owners phone number and name was written on the board. I called him up and he had lost it some 5-6 hours earlier that day tangling with another boat. Matt was from Windsor Ontario and asked me if I liked hockey and who was my favorite team. He sends me a shipping label to send the inline board back after we returned home. Today a package arrived with a thank you gift. The stick was used by 2016 Hobie Baker winner Jimmy Vesey for Harvard and now #26 for the NY Rangers. The stick came from a regular season game in Vancouver. His company creates unique stuff from NHL hockey players sticks. Grilling will be much better now!
Fishing Karma at its best right there! I have always known some of the best relationships in my life are from fishing. This story is a good example of that!
As much as you love hockey Ron, these must be special gifts you can pull out at bbqs and spark the story as a conversation piece for years to come!
Thanks Matt / Raz as said it was Karma! I tell my kids sometimes when things seem bad or tough it does get better. It was a very nice gesture on Matt's part to show his gratitude for returning his board. Hockey stuff was very cool! Rangers won in their second OT yesterday in 3 days now up 2 games to 1 on the Panthers in the East finals. Good luck in the Rotary! Sounds nice to have a camping option close to the water!
